When Istanbul was conquered by “Sultan Muhammad Fatih”, Bebek was a small village of Greek fishermen. Later, it was gradually noticed by the Ottoman nobles, and in the 19th century, everyone came to this area to build summer palaces, villas, and bungalows.
Of course, there are only a few of these buildings left, and the “Egyptian Consulate” can be mentioned as one of the best remaining examples. The construction of this white mansion was ordered by Khedive of Egypt.
Apart from the consulate, in Bebek quarter we can visit Amirgan Park, Ortakoy Quarter, Ottoman Palaces, Ortakoy Mosque, Greek Orthodox Church, Small Mosque, Asean Park and Cemetery, “Sakip Sabanji Museum”. Seeing the view of Rumli Hesari Castle will encourage anyone to visit this mysterious castle.
