80% increase in the cost of living in Istanbul

According to a report published by the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA) on Tuesday, September 5, the cost of living In Istanbul in August 2023, compared to the same period last year, it has increased by 80.95%.

This report shows that the average cost of living for a family of four in Istanbul in August reached 42,593 liras, about $1,590.

This number shows an increase of about 3,800 liras per month.

According to the published official data, the inflation in Turkey reached 58.94% in August. Among the food items, olive oil experienced the highest price increase with a 144.37% increase compared to the same period last year. After that, pasta with 51.76%, peas with 81.79% and milk with 73.29% have the highest price increase in August.
